Hi all,

I have been admitted to UCLA (Communications Studies) and Berkeley
(Mass Communications) as a transfer student. I am interested in the
fields of journalism, public relations and also advertising, and I
wonder which school should I choose.

I like UCLA's program more, but of course Berkeley has better
reputation.
As an undergradate, what criteria should I focus on?

Two good choices. Your decision should be influenced by what job you hope
to achieve after graduation. I think there might be more opportunities in
southern California in "media", but you have to define what you mean by
"media".

I think Im a little overdue with this response (judging by the date in which you posted). But I guess i'll post this for the future people....

I applied to UCB as a mass communications major. unfortunately, my high school records were not so great, so I was not accepted. BUT, thinking back on it, I am actually glad I have been rejected. I think back then I didn't care about what the school had to offer and just cared more about the name of the school in spite of my grades not being stelar.

Well... 2 years passed, I am currently a Trojan, science major and loving it. Communications is not exactly my passion and around here, it is actually very ridiculed (all the sorority girls are comm majors). But if you are good looking, speak and know how to write well... more power to you.
