"Dr. Jerry Falwell founded LU in 1971 to be a training ground for
'Champions for Christ' – young people who will earn their college
degree in an educational setting that is 'unashamedly Christian' …
'academically excellent' … and 'committed to political conservatism,
capitalism and free enterprise.'
Thirty-three years later, God has granted Dr. Falwell's desires in
wonderful ways. Over 16,000 resident and external students from 50
states and 80 nations are being trained at this time. Alumni numbering
close to 70,000 are representing Christ in the workplace, in churches,
and in homes both here and around the world."
Any more questions? ;-)

Is it the reason why the school is located in 'Lynch'-burg?

I thought the same, but didn't write it because I didn't want to
offend Lynchburg's citizens. Still, it's almost too "good" to be
purely coincidental.

I just wonder if the Readjuster Party was ever popular in Lynchburg after
the Civil War. It was probably a very conservative (staunchly Democratic
pro-slavery) town back then, just like what it is (staunchly Republican
anti-Civil Rights) right now. |

If you mean LSU, my husband is currently taking a correspondence math course |
and reports that there are no problems.
