The NSF issues this warning almost every year,
yet there are lots of people complaining about losing their tech employment.
The research-academic sector has its own expansionary agenda,
basically to keep itself going.
This may have not correlation with economic reality. |

I realize that Classical Studies have fallen on hard times, but there will
always be a need for teachers of Latin and Greek. I think the fact that
there are too few PhD's in Classical Studies bodes ill for the future of
scholarship in this country.
