Post subject: Where to put the adverb? |
|
|
In the sentence
X did not cover all the parts of Y that should have
ideally been covered.
is the adverb "ideally" in the right place? I am not sure whether it
should go right after "should". Thanks in advance.

I'd put it just after "should", yes. That way it's clear that you
don't mean "ideally covered". It's a very fine point, though, but it
might perhaps matter more in other cases.

Adverbs make weak sentences.
"X did not cover all the parts of Y that should have been covered".
Doesn't that say the same thing? |
