Post subject: gin shooting, anyone? |
|
|
Hello
I came across a puzzling phrase in an article in today's Guardian, about
Cannes and film-making,
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1481866,00.html
I understood that a new British film, starring Dame Judi Dench and Cate
Blanchett would start "gin shooting this summer".
I've looked in the NODE and the AHD4 for enlightenment, but they were
not really helpful.
It was a good ten minutes before I finally got it.
"... Notes From a Scandal will be gin shooting this summer..."
I'm so happy with my very own and very first case of mishy-phen!

This is just present tense of "be gun shooting". It happens to people
who be gun-toting. :-)

Very nice! But it's not actually a mishy-phen, as there is no hyphen.
Donna previously suggested "mishy phen", with a space, for this case.
