Does anyone who speaks French know what the delphinale means in the
context of the Academy?
An author I read mentions "phonic decay", which is words dropping
endings over time. Does anyone know of an example? Googling turns up
bupkis.
An incunabulum is a book printed before 1501, which seems like an
arbitrary date to me - I would've picked 1400. incunabulum is a
Christmassy word because it means "swaddling clothes".

"Delphinale" is an adjective meaning "from the Dauphiné". The Dauphiné
is a French province, around Grenoble. The Académie delphinale is a
learned society in that region.
