You could make a surprise, which means making something
with which to surprise someone, such as a cake, or a bomb! |

You could make a surprise, which means making something
with which to surprise someone, such as a cake, or a bomb!

You can also spring a surprise on someone. The cliche refers to
mantraps, I think.
