Why do I feel the need to add a second "-ly" to adjectives already ending in
"-ly" when abverbializing them?

It's ghastlily frustrating.

Other ones in the same class would include:
Lonelily
Shapelily
Gnarlily
Sprightlily
Kindlily
Sillily
(Motlily)
Motherlily

"Don't worry about it," she reassured him motherlily.

And, if there were an adjective "waterlilily," meaning "having the
appearance or demeanor of a waterlily," then its adverb would be...

get ready...

Waterlililily

or, using the shorthand,

Water(li)³ly
