If I knew what American FCC was, I might be able answer one or both of your
questions.

So the FCC won't let me be
Or let me be me so let me see
They tried to shut me down on MTV

I think that properly calibrated barometers are a good thing. So, I
feel generally positive about it, with reservations when the weather
does not perform as advertised.

I can't be bothered to read all that. Why can't the original poster just give
us a summary of what it does and then ask the question?

Why should it be assumed that we are all intimately familiar with USA government
and USA culture?

Just click on "About the FCC" and read the summary. It's one paragraph.

The comparable agency in the UK appears to be the Office of
Communications.
