Tell me one thing. What is the common knowledge about mountains in Britan. I
mean what names of British mountains every single Brit should know if woken
and asked at 3 a.m.

Pawel from Warsaw, Poland

Every Brit will know of Snowdon (Wales) and Ben Nevis (Scotland). Most
will know of Scafell Pike, Skiddaw and Helvellyn (England).

I'd guess Ben Nevis first and Snowdon second, with Scafell Pike a
distant third. Those are the highest mountains in Scotland, Wales, and
England, respectively.

Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Northern Ireland, is not well
known.

I'd agree with most of that list, although I doubt that many kids
from London would know of Skiddaw.

At 3am, I'd probably only manage Ben Nevis and Snowdon. At a more
civilised hour, I would probably come up with about eight or ten.

Look up the Munroes, the Cairngorms, the Grampians, the Cheviots, the
Lake District, Snowdonia, the Peak District (no mountains technically,
but hilly by British standards), and Norfolk Mountain Rescue.

Also the Number 39 to Mount Skip.
