I wouldn't have liked to have met him in a dark alley, either. |

Ah, but I believe the reference is to Mel Brooks 'omage, in Blazing
Saddles.

Movie? Why bring the movie into it?

Actually, irwell wrote that.

Ah, but sadly for *that* theory irwell is quoting neither the Huston
movie (where the actual lines are " "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We
don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!")
nor the Brooks movie (where the lines are "Badges? We don't need no
stinking badges!".)
The line as quoted by irwell is believed to appear in an episode of
"Sledge Hammer" and in the comic strip "Liberty Meadows" and has been
found nowhere else in the wild.

Fairy nuff. But what about the badgers? TB or not TB? That is the
question.

That was in the "Raoul's Wild Kingdom" segment of the movie "UHF"...the host's
rejection of a delivery of badgers to his small apartment follows his
demonstration of the turtle as "nature's suction cup" (licking the back of the
turtle and throwing it upwards so it sticks to the ceiling) and his attempts to
teach poodles to fly by throwing them out the apartment window....r |

In this neck of the woods we're still trying to discourage the bodgers.

Because the reason it has become a catch phrase and hence has shown up here
at all is because of the movie. But you knew that. |
