Depends on which "August" you're talking about. There are lots of
girls out there named April, May. and June. Floyd Patterson (American
boxer; heavyweight champion briefly in the fifties) had a lawyer named
Julius November. Don January is a retired professional golfer. Hal
March hosted TV quiz shows. Like I said, depends.[1]

This would (or could?) mean he was named after October the eighth month
of the Roman year under its decimal system. Which would correspond to
what is these days, August.
If you divide the solar RA (zodiac) by 10 instead of twelve then
Octavia (or whatever the Latin for the 8th month was) would run from
19.2 Hrs to 21.6 Hrs of RA.
If you divide the same orbit by 12; today, that RA would be the period
from somewhere in the middle of the 9th month to most of the way
through the 10th.
My maths has always been shaky. And of course early Roman Empire
calendars were often a matter of some dispute. If anyone has enough
interest they might find more about their solar system here:

But that would be for the purists. I was merely wondering about the
name Octavian. I am not by any definition the sort of bumptious pedant

The Romans used a ten month calender and they did not name or count the
winter months. Neither did they name the days of the week. Roman calenders
were a rather haphazard affairs and they fluctuated at the whims of the
current consuls.

Octavian was a surname, after his adoption by J.Caesar into the
Julian gens. Octavius was his gentile name at birth, not a given
name: his forename was Gaius -- and, yes, in that he was named after
his father.
