This is the title of a new blues compilation CD, but I wondered what the
phrase means?

Miss Tree spake thusly:

It's taken from a T-Bone Walker song, but it means nothing at all to
me:

Come home little girl, your papa ain't salty no more
Come home little girl, your papa ain't salty no more
I need your love, and I swear I miss you so
I know I was wrong, and I know I've caused you pains
I know I was wrong, and I know I've caused you pains
I'm sorry pretty baby, I won't do that again
Why, oh why pretty baby, why did you have to go
Please come back home pretty mama
Papa ain't salty no more

It's almost certainly got something to do with sex, in the local
slang, but it's not a well known phrase.

I think we're in the territory of that ol' blues

"Let me be your salty dog
Or I won't be your man at all
Honey let me be your salty dog"

Yes, it's about sex. (But then again http://www.saltydog.com/legend/ ).

DC, back from playing da blues harp to Sotonians.

Dogs and cats can sense the eaths magnetic fields. this sense is what allows
them to find their way home when lost.
