I am having difficulty with the following sentence; which one is
correct?

"I was recently offered a position AS policy advisor."

OR

"I was recently offered a position OF policy advisor."

Thank you,

The first is correct: "a position as policy advisor."

What may be confusing you is that a switch to the definite article
changes the preposition as well: "the position of Policy Advisor."
Since it's now a specific position, it gets capital letters as well.
