I looked at a webpage the other day, for an electronics manufacturer,
and there was no indication where in the world it was. There was a
picture of the factory, but even that could have been almost anywhere.
(Probably not the North Pole.)

Now I have another page with this address:

RS Components A/S
Vibevej 9-11 2400 København NV

I'm thinking this is not Nevada. Any idea where it is?

My English in this reply is colloquial, and may not always use full sentences.
For gosh sakes, when you ask a question, say what sort of English you are asking about.
When you give an answer, say in what part of the world you think your answer is valid.

If you are emailing me please
say if you are posting the same response.

This is the postal address in Copenhagen
(which the Danes spell with accented i.e. non-ASCII
characters; 2400 is the postal code, NV = northwest,
Vibevej 9-11 is the address (Vej = Way = Street).)

Denmark.
Copenhagen should have been a big clue.

RS Components is a UK firm. It is the last port of call for those
little bits of electronic stuff which you can't get from Tandy/Radio
Shack (now extinct in the UK) or Maplins, but they only trade with
businesses. Their catalogue is a wonderful thing to behold. It grew
out of a company named Radiospares.

You've found the Copenhagen operation.

It is also worth trying CPC (Premier Farnell). They trade with
"consumers" as well as businesses.

The shops were bought by Carphone Warehouse :-(

Fortunately, this coincided with the expansion of Maplins.

Maplins are great, I always hated Tandy.

Is there a word for that phenomenon whereby I always read 'Shopfitters'
as 'Shoplifters'? In recent years it's been joined by 'Carphone
Whorehouse', not to mention 'Terracotta Whorehouse' in Gorton.

I liked Tandy -- at least there *was* one of them in our town.

Maplins are great if your town has one of their shops, but whilst they
had Basingstoke on the list for expansion a few years ago, nothing ever
came of it.

Hey, in Bromsgrove in 1972 you were glad to get Tandy when the
alternative was an hour's bus ride into Birmingham.
