Post subject: Re: detail to his constructs |

Rifleman typed thus:
| Quote: | I'm not confident of my understanding and could it be explained easier?
'He brought maybe a little more attention to detail to his constructs than
was necessary. A man had to have some standards.'
I don't know how to understand 'detail to his constructs' and 'standards'.

You need to read the first sentence like this:
He brought maybe a little more [attention to detail] to his
constructs than was necessary.
"attention to detail" is a standard phrase, the meaning of which
should be obvious.
"standards" here means the rules by which he lived his life. The
sentence means that he was proud of his standard of behaviour, an
example of which was his attention to detail. "constructs" makes me
think that he is writing something, and being very careful to be
accurate.
