Post subject: Financial aid PROBLEM |
|
|
Hi, many years ago, probably 15 years ago, I was granted financial aid
for a city college. I eventually withdrew from that college.
Now, Im older and thinking about going back to school. I still need
financial help, but am hesitant to apply for Financial Aid for fear
that I might be forced to pay back that money that was granted to me so
many years ago. What reprecussions might I have to deal with in a
situation like this? If I apply, will they simply deny me or make me
pay back? Anyone know?

If you were given any gift aid (grants, scholarships, awards) then it
was a gift and you don't ever pay it back.
But, if you took any loans and have not been paying them then you are in
default and you cannot receive further aid until you arrange
satisfactory repayment terms. Once you have made a few payments you
should become eligible for more aid.
