Post subject: A weird acronym |
|
|
Hello there,
I am watching this episode of the CBS hit TV show CSI (airs: Thursday 9:00
PM on
CBS) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247082/ just a second ago the two
characters found a dead woman's body and one of them says: "[...] and
suddenly she defos". Would that be an acronym DFO made into a verb? What
woudld that mean? Thanks for any hint ;)

Just a guess: "Dead From Overdose" perhaps. |

Medical terminology in the USA. I found it last year in a jargon guide
to ER and I can't be arsed to search it out.
It means Done Fell Out (of bed) but can also mean Done Fell Over.
It's from the same school as:
OLFDGB - Old Lady Fall Down Go Boom
TRO - Time Ran Out
DRT - Dead Right There
and
ADS from TMB - Acute Dying Spell from Too Many Birthdays

| DFO does mean done fell out. I was watching the CSI dvd's and it has a director speaking. He said that he loved the acronyms because you hear them and you think its some amazing definition, but all it means is something like for example DFO- Done Fell Out. I believe it was in the episode Ellie, that he mentioned that. |
