I am taking three classes. My major is computer science, and I
need four semesters of physics and four semesters of calculus. I am
taking one semester of calculus right now but not physics. If I took
physics now, then I would be transfer ready by fall 2005. However, since
I cannot take physics right now, or in the summer, in part because
classes are full, I will be transfer ready by fall 2006. Therefore, I
will be able to attend a university by fall 2007 because there is a one-
year waiting period from acceptance in the UC system in California. I
could choose to apply in spring 2006 and be attending USC by fall 2006,
but I would rather not do that because USC is expensive.

I could just take three classes and not really care about taking
a fourth class, right? However, either if I take one or not, I am
seriously screwed because if I take, then I am not learning as much as I
could from taking four classes. However, if I take four classes, then I
would be over extending myself by taking classes that do not really help
me with getting a bachelor in computer science or computer science
engineering.

Never the less, I cannot add a physics class this semester, and
it is not available in the summer sessions. Therefore, I will not be able
to transfer when I wanted to.

So, what do I do now? Do I take three classes and have a low
course load to study and so forth. Do I add an intersession 15-week
course that starts February 2 as oppose to 18-week course that already
started. The 15-week course is Health Education. Now, even though the
course does not help me get a bachelor degree it could help my transcript
look lovely by having a non-low course load of say 10 units. In addition,
to having more of a course load I would be able to get on the deans list,
which is a list of students who had more than 12 units and had 3.5 GPA or
greater for that semester. However, all this course load and so forth
seems rather pathetic since I will be transfer ready in 4 years as oppose
to 3 years. I am in the honors program at my school, and I will complete
that by my transfer ready time. On the other hand, that seems like it
will not mean much in relation to the time it is taking me to be transfer
ready.

It will take me about 4 years to be transfer ready. In the fifth
year, I will be able to attend a university, and by that time, I will be
about 25. All of this seems pathetic to me

One year waiting period? I don't think so. If you are ready by fall
2006, you should be able to attend.

Nope, I am pretty sure that is how the UC college system works.

Well anyways, since I am so wanting to transfer one year eariler, I found
another college that has an online physics course and a physics lab that
meets on friday. Now, this is perfect in what i need. Thank you

You apply the year before you want to go. So one year before you're ready to
transfer they want all your info. If you wanted to go in Fall 2004 you
should have applied this November 2003. If you want to start in Spring
semester of 2005 you should apply now. There is a place to put your planned
on classes for this year. Any changes and you just notify them. You are
mistaken, there is not a one year wait...there is a long application
period., like almost all colleges. Also, there are four of the UC's that
accept transfer students who are not juniors. Davis, Santa Cruz, Riverside
and Irvine for sure and I am not sure about the new UC Merced. Berkeley,
UCLA, San Diego and Santa Barbara all accept junior transfers only. My #2
applied for next year NOT as a junior to one of the others. You sound
frustrated (understandably) but you can apply now for Spring 2005 (one year
away) to the above schools. Irvine may have a restriction on
engineering....I can't remmber.

I'm really happy you found the class you need. You seem dedicated. I'm sure
you will do well and be able to transfer if you want to. -B
