Post subject: Question EFC & 2 kids |
|
|
I've filled out the FAFSA for my 2 kids for college. The EFC shows at
about $10,000 on each of my kids FAFSA's. My question is this: Does
that $10,000 mean that for the family, I pay a total of $10,000 (5000
per kid), or $10,000 each for a total of $20,000?
Thanks,
Scott

A student's EFC is always specific to that student.
When there is more than one student, the EFC from parent income/assets
is split among them. So in your case if there were only one student the
EFC would have been about $20,000 for that student.

Thank you Steve. No need to reply if I've got this right... If I
understand you correctly, for my situation, my EFC is 20,000.
Therefore, 10,000 per child, as the FAFSA reports on each one... Thank
you for your quick answer.
Sincerely,
Scott
