Would you say: "It may sometimes be necessary to add other words to make the
sentences grammatical."
If not, what else would you say?

I would say that if that's what I meant. The sentence is
perfectly grammatical, but is it what you mean?

That depends upon what the intended meaning is.
Aside, I count 8 different positions that the adverb 'sometimes'
might conceivably take in Clara's sentence (commas permitted),
without fundamentally changing the meaning. Any advance on this?
