Post subject: FAFSA Housing Plan |
|
|
Hi All.
I'm just about done with the FAFSA, but I'm not sure about selecting
the Housing Plan section for each college. How important is it that
these be definite?
I've been out of school for 7 years now and I own a home in St. Louis,
where it is incredibly cheap to live. At some colleges I would
probably not be able to afford real estate (i.e., Boston,
Philadelphia, New Haven). Other places would be more feasible (i.e.,
Cincinnati; Lawrence, KS; Champaign, IL). So far I have selected "On
Campus" for the former and "Off Campus" for the latter... but I don't
really know if this is important to determine at this stage or whether
it is flexible.
I definitely have not solidified my plans for all of the colleges I'm
looking at. Any ideas on this?
Thanks,
Marc

The housing question is used to determine your expected housing costs.
The budgets for on campus and off campus are usually comparable. The
major difference is usually for "with parents" where your costs would
obviously be less.
If there's a chance you'll be on campus mark that one, just in case
somebody uses your choice to plan on having a dorm available for you.
