Post subject: Statement of pupose for Math Phd |

I am applying for phd in maths at some schools in USA. I am not sure
how to write my SOP and wht to talk about in it. I would gratefully
appreciate any help in this direction/.

Answer the question:
What are you going to do with your Ph.D.
once you have it?
Some possible directions for an answer:
1.) I want to make a career in academia,
teaching and/or doing research at a
college/university.
2.) I want to work in industry as a.....
3.) I want to return to my country to
contribute in the field of....
4.) Any or all of the above....... |

This may be a little naive, but _why_ are you applying to
graduate school? You must have some reason - talk about that.
