Hi. I'm hoping to apply to a couple of CS PhD programs for this Fall,
deadline Feb 1st. Only problem is I'm worried about the validity of my
GRE scores. I took them in December 1999, which would make them 5 years
old this month.

The GRE's phone service hasn't been willing to help me much here. When
I try calling in it informs me that it's located my scores but can't
currently access them, to kindly call back in a week (which I've tried
twice now, to no avail). It does, however, seem willing enough to send
my scores to the institutions I've selected if I so choose.

Is 5 years officially "over the deadline"? I know most schools set
their own standards for this stuff, but I assume the GRE *will* send my
scores on since it's not yet January '05?

It seems I have barely enough time to retake if I was so inclined, but
I'd really rather not push it for numerous reasons. Hoping someone can
provide some answers/advice. Thanks in advance...
