To create your own books, you must prepare a book source file, use the menu: "Book->Create New Book", a new window with the instruction will popup after you select the menu.

The following text is a copy of the help file about book source file:

Note: The book source file must be in text format, if you edit it with Microsoft Word, you must save it as text file and close Word before creating the book.

Before you create a new book, you must prepare a book source file, a source file is a text file which consists of word definitions. A word definition is one line (only one line) in the source file, for example:
aim : to point a gun at

This is the simplest example, it's formed by three parts : word, colon and definition, you can also add part of speech(scroll to bottom to see all part of speech supported by Vocaboly) as following:
aim : v. to point a gun at

Add other meanings:
aim : v. to point a gun at; to try or intend to achieve something

Add word forms:
aim : v. [aimed; aimed; aiming] to point a gun at; to try or intend to achieve something

If a word has more than one word type, you can specify another one as following example, please notice, program doesn't support more than two word types, but meanings are unlimited for each word type.
aim : v. [aimed; aimed; aiming] to point a gun at; to try or intend to achieve something || n. [aims] a goal or purpose

You can add sample sentences for the words, a sample sentence must be in other line followed the word definition, starts with a "#", you may add unlimited sentences for each word, for example:
aim : v. [aimed; aimed; aiming] to point a gun at; to try or intend to achieve something || n. [aims] a goal or purpose
#He [aimed] the gun at the door.
#The aim of a university should be the [advancement] of learning.

You can use "[" and "]" to highlight a keyword in the sentences, you can also add a comment (typically, a translation of another language), a complete word definition becomes :
aim : v. [aimed; aimed; aiming] to point a gun at; to try or intend to achieve something || n. [aims] a goal or purpose
#He [aimed] the gun at the door. || Er zielte mit der Waffe auf die Tür.(German Translation)
#The [aim] of a university should be the advancement of learning. || Das Ziel einer Universität sollte die Förderung des Lernens sein.

You can add space lines or comment lines which starts with asemicolon(;) to make the source more readable, all these lines will be ignored by program.

The phonetic symbols will be added by default, after you create a new book, you can use "Select Book" to learn it, if you make major update for a book, the best practice is to modify your source file instead of the book, then delete the old book and create a new one, keep your source file up-to-date as possible as you can.

You can find some sample source files in Vocaboly's installation directory.
