My son is planning to start school in NYC in the fall. I need to set
up financing for him. He will be incurring a substantial amount of
debt and will be graduating with a Jazz Performance degree from
Manhatten School of Music. The school is perhaps the best in the
country and nearly impossible to get into. They don't need to offer
any money to applicants because of the demand. Their preferred lender
is Nellie Mae. I downloaded an Application but you need to be a CPA to
understand the terms and conditions. Also, I can't get a real handle
on what $26,000 will be costing him over the life of the loan based on
their site or the app. Other sites/lenders seem to be helpful -
estudentloan.com steps you through some basic questions and gives you
4 or 5 lenders with rates/terms comparisons. Seems Educaid was the
most affordable.

Anyone have any suggestions for lenders from a Student's obligation
perspective. There is a chance that he'll became famous and make tons
of money but remember - he's a musician and needs the best rates he
can get. I don't want to let him down and strap him to a bad deal.
Also, are there any to stay away from. Are there any terms or
conditions that should throw on a red flag warning ?
