I'm ticked off at Sallie Mae, the current holder of both my ~35k
consolidation loan and a ~2k Stafford loan from 1992 that I held
seperate in order to retain eligibility for certain deferments.
Despite Sallie Mae's multiple reassurances, it turns out that I'm not
eligible for those deferments anyway, and in fact am now not eligible
for *any* deferments unless I re-consolidate and include that last
remaining old loan. I plan to re-consolidate and include that loan so
that I can get a year of economic hardship deferment, and would like
to do so with someone other than Sallie Mae as my interactions with
them have been less than satisfying. Does anyone have recommendations
for Stafford loan consolidation companies that have better (or at
least more honest) customer service and good terms?
