Post subject: Obtaining Federal Aid for study abroad |
|

Hi,
I filled out the FAFSA form about 6 weeks ago, and recieved the EFC of
0. I am enrolling in an Masters program that is located in the UK. I
think this means that I am elligable for $18,000 or so in loans.
Nevertheless, since I am studying in the UK, I am not sure how the
school or I will recieve this money. I believe my school is Title IV,
since it is listed on the code search where the SAR is send to. But I
am not sure what is the next step.
In the US, the school generally recieves the SAR and then they
directly recieve the loan. But in this case, it's a school abroad, the
currency is different, etc.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you
Regards,

If it's a T-IV school you're eligible for $18,500 Stafford loans -
$8,500 subsidized, the rest unsubsidized. I suspect that they have to
follow the same procedure as schools here - they'll notify you of your
eligibility and have you complete a Master promissory Note and they will
receive the money directly.
