Post subject: FAFSA - student's cash, checking and savings amounts |
|

If all the funds that a (dependent) student has in cash and in her
checking account are from gifts (she doesn't work) and allowance from
her parents, do these funds need to be included on the FAFSA in the
question that asks how much the student has in cash, checking,
savings?

Hello again George, been awhile,
The answer is yes, they are to be included on the FAFSA. The source is
not pertinent.
The only exception to reporting assets she may have is cash from
financial aid like pay from work-study, or excess funds refunded when
the financial aid was more than enough to pay the school for their bill.
