When saying "Down the hall", the secretary may be pointing in a
direction, or the secretary is at the end of a hall and there is only
one way to go 'down' the hallway. In this case, "down" does not mean a
lower level, but 'away from' the current place.
repeated to oneself at each change of direction.
The first is a little easier (for me, anyway) because there are physical
objects described in the directions. |
