I'm having trouble deciding whether commas are needed before and after
"1954" in the sentence, "Jim's June 1954 account of the
accident.....," since that would seemingly add an unecessary and
unwanted pause So I thought I'd let youse guys mince duh words for me
LOL

Thanks in advance.

"Jim's accident account dated June 1954..." Maybe?

No comma after "1954" ... I wouldn't put a comma before it either, but some
people might.

BTW, less alliteration might sound better. You could say:

Jim's account of the accident in June 1954 ...

Or if that sounds too ambiguous (is the date referring to Jim's account or
the accident itself ?):

Jim's account of the accident given in June 1954 ...
Jim's account of the accident from June 1954 ...
The account of the accident that Jim gave in June 1954 ...

I hope not. "1954" is the answer to "which June?" and needs either a
pair of commas or none.

I might use a hyphen: "Jim's June-1954 account..."
