Something to mull over while you enjoy your morning oatmeal ...
flummery comes from the Welsh llymru, soft jelly from sour oatmeal.

I can't see the original post except via Google, but if flummery is a
jelly, then Wurzel-flummery* must be a root vegetable jelly. Mmm,
tasty...
*Do you need the explanation or is this one well-known?

CRAWSHAW. This letter has just come by hand. (He reads it) "199,
Lincoln's Inn Fields. Dear Sir, I have pleasure to inform you that
under the will of the late Mr. Antony Clifton you are a beneficiary
to the extent of L50,000."
MARGARET. Robert!
CRAWSHAW. Wait! "A trifling condition is attached--namely, that you
should take the name of--Wurzel-Flummery."
I'm afraid that the only works of A.A. Milne that are *well* known in
the US are the Pooh stories and Christopher Robin poems. Even Milne's
lovely little comic fairy-tale "Once on a Time" is long vanished. (But
in its place are three million Pooh-related products.)
"Wurzel," says M-W, is short for "mangel-wurzel," a sort of beet. And
"flummery" is:
1 a : a soft jelly or porridge made with flour or
meal b : any of several sweet desserts
