Hi All,

Somewhere in cyberspace, I have read that both variants are correct, but
with this remark: "I'm going to leave the explanations to one of the other
teachers here."

Could someone provide an explanation? Is "help" being used somewhat like
modal verb now? Everybody seems to be using "help do" now, but is correct -
or just acceptable?

Thanks!
Sergei

As in "help N do X"? Sounds normal to me. Just one of those verbs which can
take the infinitive without "to".

Here's a few from Google News:
That summoned support did not help Blair face his critics.
It may, however, help Blair appear as a "peacemaker"
Alastair Campbell, who fled No 10 after the Hutton saga, is slated to return
to help Blair win
It certainly didn't help Blair sell a controversial US request to move
British troops
The devices help Blair determine when to seed
Starr wants to help Blair pick out her dress.

Starr wants to help Blair pick out her dress.

Who's Starr, and does this shed new light on the duties of a PM?
