Hi aue. Need some help from you. I'm signing an contract.
But have trouble to understand what 'hold ... out' below
means. Please explain. Thanks.
"I understand that I am an independent contractor, and that
I have no relationship with Alberky Corp. except as an
independent contractor. I understand that I may not hold
myself out as having any right or power or authority to
create any contract or obligation, either express or
implied, on behalf of, in the name of, or binding upon
Alberky Corp..."

"Hold oneself out" here means to do things that would lead other people
to reasonably believe that you are, in this case, someone who has
authority to enter into contracts in the name of Alberky Corp., etc.

"I may not hold myself out" etc. simply means
I may not tell other people I have power to act
on behalf of Alberky Corp.

Not quite. In a legal context, "to hold out" is broader than "to tell",
is closer to "to lead to believe", and could even include "to allow to
believe".

= I understand that I may not say have any right or power, and I
may not do anything that could reasonably give somebody that
impression.
If I hold myself out to be a grammar expert, it means I say I'm one
or act in a way that gives that impression. (I _did_ say "if" :-)
