Hello,

I'm a former University of Texas student. During school i went
through a period of frustration anger and general unhappiness which
pretty much blew me to the bottom with grades and life. Now I'm trying
to dig my way back up to school somewhere and I'm looking to see if
anyone here was ever in my situation and how you got back to school.
thanks in advance.

Sina

Hi, I haven't been there myself, but I've seen someone else go there
who's also looking to get back into it now. My main suggestion would
be to take it slowly, and don't expect too much of yourself.

School is never *easy*; coming back to school after some years absence
is particularly not-easy (I'm doing _that_ myself); and coming back to
school after some years absence when you've got other things going on
in your life can't be *at all* easy. So I'd probably suggest just
starting part-time, or even just starting with one course (which is
what another friend of mine has been doing, with great success) and
taking it from there.

Also, don't expect to get perfect scores and straight As -- if that
happens, it's great, but you don't want to set yourself up for stress
and frustration. Choose a reasonable goal, and be prepared to adjust
it if the course proves harder (or easier) than you expected. And
take advantage of the school academic/study skills centre, and of
whatever student health services are available to give you advice as
you're easing back into things.

Good luck!

A.

Hello Sina,
I have been through the same thing. In fact, my grades plummeted (my
GPA was 2.0) when I left school out of frustration and anger. But, I
had to understand why I was frustrated. I didn't like the idea of
school, I felt like I was being conformed to a standard that was
making me into a person I didn't want to be. I had to reevaluate
myself and my life before going back to school. You have to ask
yourself, Why am I unhappy? What do I want out of life? What do I
want out of school? More importantly, Why am I going to school? You
have to make attainable goals or you won't be successful. School
isn't easy and you are going to take classes you don't want to take.
You just have to take the experience and get what you want out of it.
Once I answered these questions about my own life, I was able to have
a positive experience. I met people who helped me accomplish my
goals. Once I went back to school, I raised my grades and graduated
with a 4.0. Now, I am in graduate school. It's not impossible, you
just have to go to school for the right reasons. You have to go for
you. I hope this helps you! Good luck
Kristen

Just do not give up. You should be able to find out what
you would like to study . It might be necessary to take a look
at some textbooks before you go back to school in order to
get some confidence in advance. Or you can browse some websites
to see if you can find some related materials.

The following link might help if you are going to study
science-related things:
