Post subject: On the usage of "The" and plurals |
|
|
Hi,
I speak French and I have sometimes some difficulties in English.
An example with "The" in plurals forms.
Here is what I think. Can you confirm of deny (saying OK or NOK) or explain
me why or when "the" is required, [the] meaning that it is omitted :
1. About [the] limitations of this product...
2. Due to the many options available, we can say...
3. Thanks to my insistence that adds to the one of other amateurs...
4. If you discover the product for the first time...
5. The scenarii explain each function of the program... (not sure at all of
"the")
6. You must succeed examinations dealing with the regulation,
radioelectricity... (maybe without "the")
7. Contrary to the US FCC regulation were... (not sure of "the" either
before an acrynom like an instutution, etc)
8. They can help you in providing syllabi dealing with the national
regulation (not sure either)
9. As they succeeded the theory they only have to...
Can we conclude that all plurals excepted 2. "the" is always omitted ?
It is also omitted when the noun cannot be counted (regulation,
radioelecticity, theory...), concern acronyms, etc ?
Thanks in advance
Thierry
