I am a new college student about to be enrolled in Devry looking to
have one looming question that several ppl have mentioned that the
curriculum that is taught @ Devry is outdated and is not useful in the
technology fields of today?

Any useful information about this claim would be greatly apprieciated.

I was just reading your postings and wondering if any of you had any

It's
hard to find a place to work where you can take off random days if
you
have a test or assignment that week. Plus a place that will be
willing
to give time off for long breaks like Christmas in order for me to go
home. I need a job this semester and don't want my schooling to have
to suffer for it.
HELP!

Hmm. You could try tutoring -- high school exams will mostly come at
different times than uni exams -- but it's pretty irregular work.

You could check if anyone in your department needs a research assistant
-- though this sort of work usually goes to post-grads or at least
second or third year students.

I'd expect most customer service type places to be fairly flexible in
shift-switching between workers. But they will often have systems in
place where you need to inform your supervisor, otherwise people switch
so many shifts that they lose track of who's working on a particular
shift.

I'd check at the student services centre to see if there's any
job-search system set up to help students. In New Zealand, the Student
Job Search service is set up in most student associations to help
students find temporary or permanent jobs. The university itself often
has a career's advisory service.
Hope this helps,

A.

Don't worry about what people say about DeVry. The bottom line is DeVry
places individuals in well paying jobs. I'm not delusional, DeVry is not
a Harvard nor do they claim to be. They have a relevant curriculum that
companies appreciate. The commercials don't do much for the school's
image either. I don't attend DeVry but I did graduate from Keller Graduate
School of Management with a Master's in Network and Communications
Management. I've had a chance to interact with the faculty and students.
I would recommend this education over a state school if the intent is job
placement or advancement. You sound like a person that obviously has an
established career. I attended a state school for my undergraduate. It
was a good education but the education was not relevent. DeVry brings you
a degree of relevancy to the working world that a state school can't
provide. In the technical field if I'm evaluating you for a job, I want
to know your skill set not the name on your degree.

Just want to make a quick response to this post because it is assuming a
lot of things. I like to preface this by saying I'm not sticking up for
DeVry, I just happen to work in the real world and see situations that
relate to this post. The reason in this hypothetical example why you would
graduate at 40-41 because you will be taking classes that in no way relate
to what you want to do and forced to be on a 16 week semester. You will
also be limited to 2 possibly 3 classes at a semester. I have a friend
going to Georgia State and he is forced to take Astronomy and Theater.
This doesn't relate to what he does but its in his common body of
knowledge. This example falls into the five year rule, meaning after 5
years of work experience, your work performance not the name of your
degree(or even if you have one in some cases) does more for one's career.
There is no guarantee whatsoever that a degree from Georgia State will get
you more money than one from DeVry. This guy isn't 18, he's a working
adult who needs a relevent education. It would do nothing but waste
valuable time taking unnecessary classes. DeVry is really geared towards
those who simply need an academic credential to serve as a catalyst for
their career or those who need a relevant education that will manifest
itself in a job. I think sometimes we confuse prestige with market value.
I know several Duke graduates that either don't have jobs or are not as
well off as one might think. Despite the lame commercials, DeVry's niche
is finding out what employers want from students and teaching a curriculum
that corresponds to employers' needs. Many other non-traditional schools
are starting to follow their lead.

A good source to look at is the DeVry website in the career section.
You'll find the placement rate as well as the average starting salary that
corresponds with each major. Considering that most of the graduates are
in their 20's, these statistics are pretty good. I don't see too many
traditional schools posting how much their graduates make upon graduating.

To whom it may concern:

"Freedom Watch" is little more than a Scientology front.

I have responded to such attacks and that response has been posted

Hey barb. People might take you a little more seriously
if you
could
spell. Get a dictionary.

English is my 2nd language.

Hmmm...that puts logic and the understanding of reality even
lower
than
I
thought.

If you are as fluent like me in a 2nd
language, you have a right to critic.

Can I also criticize? And, how do you know that I am not
fluent in
more
than
one language? Hmmm??? Using that magical $ceinoBall?

However, it is always the people
that don't speak a 2nd language fluently that attack others
on
true
and even imaginary imperfections of that 2nd language.

There are those who use the spelling flame. However, it is as
specious
as
many of the things you post. I equatge its use with that of a
violation
of
Godwin's law.

I doubt that you understand the dangers, the criminality and
the
inhumanity of "deprogramming", Mr. Probert,

I do understand the horrors of brainwashing, which
"deprogramming"
un-does,
and am actively involved in cult prevention wrt to the so-called
messianic
jews. I have read the cults manuals, and have seen just how they
try to
steal minds.

So, I run into a active Nazi who is going after the Jews

I am NOT going after anyone. I work in an *early intervention*
program where
the targets of a group called "Jews for Jesus" (broadly covered under
the
term "Messianic Jews")are invited into my home, made just like a
member of
the family, and are otherwise shown that they can made their own
choices.
You see, I have read the 'conversion' a/k/a brainwashing manual for
this
group.

These swine use brainwashing techniques similar to those used by the
North
Koreans during the Korean War to subvert a persons faith. They rob
their
victims of free will.

Now, you must understand that 'Jews for Jesus' and all other sduch
messianic
groups, is NOT Jewish. They reject the basis tenets of Judaism. In
essence,
they are similar to a group called "Vegetarians for McDonalds". A
pure
oxymoron.

but who is
invoking the Godwin "law", if he is accused of what he is doing to
the
Jews. How interesting and how typical. So, why can't you leave them
alone, M. Probert?

Because stealing a person's free will is disgusting to me. That is
what
disgusts me about the Kriminal Kult of $cientology.

You don't know anything about deprogramming. Taking a religion and
living by it is no mindcontrol,

Only if the person takes that religion by their own free will. WRT to
J4J's
and the KK$, there is no free will.

but stealing people's religions and
personality through the inhumane and criminal "deprogramming" is.
It
also doesn't work. It did not work with me. All I was thinking
through
the ordeal was to get out, to file charges against them and that I
never want to become one of them. It probably works with weak
people,
people that develop something like the "Stockhausen-syndome",
because
they don't want to be longer abused by the criminals.

same as you don't
understand Godwin's laws,

Wrong, again. You donot udnerstand one scintilla of his law.

It is no law! It is written to the advantage of still active German
Nazis which don't want to be reminded of what they did and what
they
still are up to.

Only in your so-called 'mind.'

However, I do believe you now that your Uncle is
German and that you were in Germany.

My uncle was German? Hardly.

Did the still existing German
Nazi secret service, the former Gehlen Spy Ring (yes, look them
up)hire you to promote their propaganda?

Paranoid drivel.

but below a bit more to open your blind eyes
as to what you promote by being "pro-deprogramming".

A front organization for the Kriminal Kult of $cientology, a
racketeering
influence corrupt organization that steals minds? Hardly a good
source.

What front group?

Religious Freedom Watch

They did not steal my mind.

That is a fact not in evidence.

And as far as you are
concerned, I think you never had any to begin with.

Oh, I am so hurt. NOT!

And, reposting it a gadzillion times will not make it any more
true.

That goes for your Nazi propaganda.

What are you talking about? I do not post Nazi anything.

You should go to the www.religiousfreedomwatch.org and click on the
Rick Ross institute. Read the court documents that you can verify
in
those courts. Get some reality about your friends, the
"deprogrammers".

Where you involved in "deprogramming"? Did you help to "deprogram"
a
person? Where you ever in such a "session"?

Prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Repeated re-post of drivel deleted.
